Jonathan Ford of BleedTechBlue.com joins the program to explain the situation regarding former Oregon Ducks QB Jeremiah Masoli. It appears Masoli may be transferring to Louisiana Tech and could be eligible for the 2010 season. Click below to listen…
Craig, nice cheap shot. Lady Techsters??… really?? Anyway, go back and look at the box score from last years game, TECH was within 2 points until the closing minutes with a mediocre QB, 3rd string depth at WR (had about 4 WR’s with season ending injuries and had a walk-on freshman start and another true freshman that was a DB), a BOTH safeties were True Freshmen forced into action as well (one in his first game). There is no doubt that they will be favored, and they should be, but the point spread with the QB’s we have on roster is double digits (prolly 14-20) and with Masoli, it gets down to the 4-6 range.
I will start by saying if Boise State is only favored by 4-6 points next season vs. La-Tech, I will bet my house and life savings on it- that will be the pick of the century.
Unfortunately the Las Vegas odds makers’ opinion will be slightly different than yours.
For anyone in the WAC to think La-Tech has any chance at all to defeat Boise State is down right unacceptable… It’s moronic. Boise State gives Pac-10 teams all they can handle.
Boise State has dominated the WAC more so than any team has EVER dominated ANY conference in college football history. Find me a more dominant team over a course of 10-years in one conference (challenge to you right there).
Boise has lost 2 WAC games since joining the league- and have done so for a long time with less resources than most teams in the its conference.
There isn’t one team that will touch BSU this season in conference. Geez, I’m an Oregon Duck fan, too…but can still credit a great program far superior to its league, which Boise clearly is.
Maybe its different for you, being a Lady-Techster fan. Heck, for a number of years I thought my Ducks had a shot at USC, and for the most part they didn’t. I’d hate Boise too if I was a fan of any other WAC program.
Good luck with Masoli, if you get him, he’s a great one to watch.
But c’mon even dignifying your team’s chances to run with Boise!
I will say that Boise has always struggled in Ruston- that’s a tough trip. This year’s game is on The Blue, don’t hold your breath. And if it’s a “4-6″ point spread, put your mortgage on it…that is if people actually buy property in Ruston! : )
I will take two of whatever Doc is on, please and thank you. La Tech stands no chance with Masoli at QB. Heck, give them Farve and I still like Boise St. to crush them. Looking into last year’s game and making a judgement call on that is scary. Wow, so they hung around with Boise until the closing minutes. This isn’t college horse shoes, it’s football and close doesn’t count for s***. Boise St. is in a class of it’s own in the Wack WAC. Is there any guess as to why they’re leaving the WAC? Pretty sure you could add T.O. and Masoli and you are still looking a SUPER average team for this year. I agree, Lady Techsters sounds just about right!!
Thanks Johnny.
How can Mr. Ford say that La-Tech could be Boise State this year with the addition of Masoli at QB?
Look, I’m a Ducks fan, and WE couldn’t even beat Boise with Masoli at QB…
If Masoli couldn’t beat Boise with Oregon, how the heck could he do it with the Lady Techsters?

Rock N Rollica,
Totally agree with everything you’ve said. In no way, ever, let me say it again, EVER, could La-Tech defeat Boise this season (in Boise, by the way).
Like I said before, Masoli couldn’t beat BSU with OREGON! How the hell could he do it with La-Tech? He couldn’t.
You’re a funny guy, Doc!
