Fantasy Football 2010 Projections – Quarterbacks
If any of you have listened to the Johnny Ballgame Show recently you know that I have a lot to say about drafting quarterbacks in fantasy football. I have begged listeners to look the other way and be excited when one of your opponents drafts a QB in the first two rounds. I have said it a million times, but here it is for reinforcement; you can not win in a standard scoring league if you take a QB in the first two rounds! It can’t be done. Trust me. I know what you are thinking-“but don’t the QB’s score the most points in fantasy football?” Yes, they do and it is just this sort of logic that gets someone to say “Drew Brees with the ninth overall pick” that makes me so happy.
Looking at overall points in fantasy football is fools gold. Sure, you want to have the most points every week, but allow me to become nerdy for one second. It is not overall points that you want to look at; it is points per game compared to the next player at the same position’s points per game that matters. Confusing, I know, but this is the sort of simple math that will give you an edge at your upcoming drafts. Here is an example.
Drew Brees : 343 total points or 21.43 per game (2009)
Eli Manning: 279 total points or 17.43 per game (2009)
Here is my next example
Adrian Peterson: 326 total points or 20.37 (2009)
DeAngelo Williams: 204 total points or 12.75 (2009)
Both Drew Brees and Adrian Peterson scored the second most points last year at QB and RB. Eli Manning and DeAngelo Williams scored the tenth most points at QB and RB. Yet, Eli Manning goes in the 8-10 round range while DeAngelo Williams will go in the first or second round. You can not pass up the RB position in the first or early second round and you need to have two by the end of the fourth round. Quarterbacks can be taken in the 5-8 rounds and they will score virtually the same amount of points as their 1-3 round counterparts. I can’t stress this enough-DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE A QB IN THE FIRST ROUND IN A STANDARD OR PPR LEAGUE! You will absolutely lose every time. On that note, here are my rankings of the QB’s this year and where to take them.
Tier I
Experts vary between Rodgers and Brees, but I disagree. Brees is almost never hurt and has the better O-line and weapons. Rodgers should be great, but the 50 sacks he took last year scare me. Romo is higher on my board than most because of the team makeup. I believe with Dez Byrant and Felix Jones, this team is looking to air the ball out. Romo should be in for a huge year. I could see him creep up to number one.
Tier II
This is where the real value lies in the Quarterback position. Any one of these guys could rank in the top five next year. Jay Cutler is high on my rankings due to the new offensive coordinator, Mike Martz. Jon Kitna had back to back 4,000 passing seasons in Detroit with Martz as his offensive coordinator during 2006 and 2007, can you imagine what Martz should do with a talent like Jay Cutler? Kevin Kolb takes over for Philly and unlike the Donovan McNabb years, Kolb has multiple weapons. Philly did nothing to address the running game, so he should have a big year.
Tier III
This Tier of QB’s represents the last of the quality starters. Joe Flacco finally got some new toys in Dontae Stallworth and Anquan Boldin. I believe he will approach 4,000 yards and 25 TDs. Eli Manning is a safe and reliable QB, and has a great young receiving corps. Carson Palmer has been discounted this year. Don’t make that mistake. Palmer could have a huge year with the additions of Antonio Bryant and the rookie TE Jermaine Gresham.
Tier IV
Big Ben has wonderful value this year. Draft a third tier QB for the first four weeks and then let Ben sexually assault your opponents the rest of the season. Chad Henne could become very usable this year. He has a great arm and the addition of Brandon Marshall at wide receiver should really help whoever is under center in South Beach. Matt Stafford has all the tools to be great in Detroit, but I worry about his ability to stay upright.
Tier V
This is a weak bunch and unless you have one of the top 8 QB’s, they should not be on your roster. Alex Smith has no competition for his job, but his upside is limited. Johnny Ballgame’s inside source says that Derek Anderson has outperformed Leinart so far in mini-camp. If D.A. becomes the starter in Arizona, move him into this spot and Leinart to a hottub with a beer bong. The rest play on run oriented teams.
I think the key statement in this article is “standard scoring league.” I play in a 2 QB (6 PT per touchdown – pass or run) league and you can NOT win without drafting a QB in the top 2 rounds.
Would love your perspective on a 6pt per touchdown (pass or run) league?
How can you have Kevin Kolb in tier 2 and Alex Smith in tier 5? Smith easily has just as many talented weapons to get the ball too and Kolb has only started a few games
Ok, first question. If you are in a league that rewards QB’s that highly and you have to start two, than only Peterson and Johnson should be taken higher than Brees. Only the top four RB’s and top two recievers should be taken in the first round. The top 15 QB’s should be gone by the second round. You have to play it by ear though, if you have the 5th pick and you take Ray Rice with that pick and in the second round Turner falls to you, you may have to sacrifice QB and get a couple the next two rounds. I have Kolb well ahead of Alex Smith due to him having a much better arm, a better team, and a passing system. Kevin Kolb will pass the ball 450 times at least next year. Alex Smith will pass roughly about 330 times next year. Just shear volume will give Kolb more numbers. It has nothing to do with talent, just the system. We both know that Carson Palmer is better than them both, but he won’t pass as much as Kolb. Trust me when I say Kolb will outpreform Alex Smith.
Love the article. I am a rookie and need help. I am at a tough spot in my draft. I’m at number 9. Before reading your article I had planned to draft Brees at number 9, presuming AP, CJ, Rice, Gore, MJD, Turner and Andre Johnson all disappear before my pick. In a one QB, but 6 point TD scoring system, would you still stay away and draft someone like Deangelo Williams? SJax after back surgery seems too risky?
If td’s are all scored the same 6, I think you will find that Brees is gone by the 9th pick anyway. I would consider staying away from a receiver in the 1st round due to the talent that is there. Here are my top 10 in order that I would choose in this system.
1. AP 2.CJ 3. MJD 4. Rice 5. Brees 6. Gore 7. Rodgers 8. Steven Jackson 9. Randy Moss or Andre Johnson 10. Mendenhall
I love Rodgers in this format and would consider him ahead of Brees. Don’t let Jackson scare you, he could be a beast next year and will get all the carries. I actually have Moss ahead of Johnson in this format depending on yardage scoring. If you dont get much for yardage than take Moss, he will score more TDs than Johnson. I could also be talked into Mendenhall ahead of those receivers or maybe Manning. I love the next 5 receivers as much as I like Moss or Johnson. Austin, White, Fitz, and Wayne can easily be ranked higher then moss or johnson. I would not take a receiver in the first round and see what falls in the second and third. If you take a QB in the first, do not take a receiver in the second. Hope Grant or D Williams falls to you. Good luck, should have my tight ends done this week. If you have anything else dont hesitate to leave a question.
Thanks Kevin, that’s really good advice. Can I just ask why your Running Back rankings have changed? In your reply you have Gore, Jackson, Mendenhall then Turner. Your original article was Turner, Jackson, Gore, Mendenhall.
Because I am an idiot and it was late. 1. AP 2. CJ 3. MJD 4. Rice 5. Brees 6. Turner 7. Gore 8. Rodgers 9. Steven Jackson 10. Mendenhall or a WR. I thought about this question this morning also and realized that I did not know how many people are in your league. If it is a 12 team league, you may want to wait on QB until the third or fourth and take a high end reciever or RB with your second pick. You are never going to win the QB spot anyway unless you get Manning and even then you will only be better than a handful of teams. If you can get Turner, who I think will be huge this year, and then Moss, you should have a great 1-2 combo that beats 90% of the teams. I also love Romo and would consider him with your second pick. He could easily be the best QB this year with his weapons at hand.
Also you could get Grant in the second round to go along with Turner and have a pair of RB’s that score up to 30 tds, better than anyone would be my guess. You have to find a way to be better than the picks ahead of you even though you pick after them. They would have a tough time with you backfield week to week and that is what it is all about.
In my league we carry over someone we got after the 3rd round last year I get to carry Ray Rice and I reieve 5th pick I am in a 12 man league 1 qb and tds are 6 pts. I am stuck on 2 players at this spot either Michael T or Arron Rodgers. I am leaning towards Rodgers due to the fact qbs fly off our board and Romo is carried over along with Shaub. What would you do ? Can you email me your answer and explain. Thanks
Hey, I just saw your comment. Personally I would take Turner and here is my thinking. There are only about 12 to 15 300+ carry guys in the league and Turner is one of them. You also have to start 2 of them as compared to one QB. I would focus on guys like Kevin Kolb, Joe Flacco, and Matt Ryan. Maybe even Favre if he lasts. Another guy is Big Ben late and just find someone to play the first four weeks. It would be hard to pass up Rodgers, but I think Turner would be worth it. He could easily have 15+ TDs. Good Luck
Thank you for a great post.
Hi Kevin, I am in a TWO QB league scoring is 4 pts for passing TD. and 6 pts for Rushing/Receiving TD–12 team league… I have the 1st pick overall. I am looking at either Rodgers or Brees as the number one pick overall. QBs go fast in two QB leagues…What do you recommend I do in the 2nd/3rd round….. Rb/WR or WR/WR combo.. I think I may have a chance to grab a Jennings and DJax with the 24th pick.. or should I grab the best RB and WR at that pick and look for a 2nd QB and TE in Rounds 4 and 5?? Thoughts.. Also, wanted to find out what you thoughts of Shonne Greene and Ryan Mathews.. Rookie and 2nd year player is so high up there..
I’ll take this! 2 QB league or not, take Peterson or Chris Johnson number one! Draft Carson Palmer and Kevin Kolb (or someone else of that nature) later. With the first pick- take the best RB on the board. I’m sure Kevin will chime in, too.
another thing……look for a TE around round 9 at the earliest. Wonderful TE class this year
Totally agree with Johnny on this, Kevin Kolb and Matt Ryan-both I am really high on. I am going to update my list soon, but if you look at Matt Ryan, he had 22 TD’s in 13 games-pretty good. Do not pass up peterson or Johnnson-they score much, much more than any QB and far more than the rest of the RBs. I love Shonne Greene and Matthews, but Greene much more! Dont draft a TE earlier than the 8th round, look for Zach Miller and Cooley late. If the preseason is any indicator, Cooley and McNabb are already on the same page. Good Luck!
Thanks Guys..Good Stuff i must say! I think with the 2nd rd (24th pick) I could probably grab only one of those guys (Kolb, Palmer/Ryan) Would it be prudent to grab these two guys back to back (Rd 2 and 3) without a WR until the 4th and 5th Rounds?.. Or do I grab one of those QBs?….and go RB/WR depending on the value there and then seek out another QB in the 4th/5th Rds.. Thanks again!!
I would probably just grab one QB unless you are getting serious value. Big Ben or Sanchez might have nice value late. Also don’t forget about Stafford who could be a late round sleeper. He had the best statistical season as a rookie since Peyton. If I could get one of my top 6 for WR, I would pick them
This is the coolest website and stories that i have ever read¡its useful for me as im a lecturer and always motivate my students with these publised stories¡thank you ¡and waiting for plenty more¡
I’m in a 10 man 1 point per reception league and I’m the 5th overall pick. I can’t see myself picking a QB until later rounds and I’m thinking my strategy is by the 5th round if Rivers is available, grab him. Otherwise wait it out as long as you can.
Try and get a Kolb, Ryan, or Favre 8th or 9th round (I believe half of the drafters will get a QB between 1 and 4). And I think I’ll get Big Ben (or if not available, Mcnabb 12th or 13th).
I still think I’ll end up with Gore if 1-4 aren’t stupid. If not, RR or MJD. Then I plan to go with two receivers, hopefully a wayne or white 2nd round. Then 3rd round a WR again, like a fitz (hopefully) or boldin.
4th round = another RB. Since I’m in a PPR I think LeSean McCoy will be next available and someone not everyone is looking at. Otherwise Addai or P Thomas.
5th Round I was thinking grab Clark or Gates if available but you mentioned don’t go for a TE until much later. I think a Clark or Gates is equal to a secondary elite WR and shouldn’t be ignored in the 5th. If they are taken I was thinking if Rivers is available go with him (even with V Jac sidelined?).
If all the above is not available then go with another WR/RB since I have a flex.
I’ll grab Finley in the 6th if I don’t get Clark of Gates.
But after this? Not sure who to grab for depth. I’m struggle after the first 5 rounds honestly.
Ward? Mike Wallace? Bernard Barrian (sleeper pick with 1st out and 2nd with headaches?), Crabtree? Sims-Walker? Best? Jerome Harrison? The choices!
I understand your pain. I would definately wait on TE. If you look at even the 10th TE on the list-like Heath Miller (76 rec.) or Witten, who is falling fast or even Cooley, who McNabb loves, you will be getting value. Hines Ward and Driver are great rec. WR that you can get late. I would stay away from Wallace. He will have some big days, but he will be hard pressed to get 70 rec. Wes Welker is falling way too far and should not go by the 5th or 6th round. This guy is a top 10 WR in PPR leagues and is playing in the preseason. I would get 3 RB’s and 3 WR’s in the first 6 rounds and then turn to QB , but only if you have one you love. You can wait another round or two if every team has one. Take Big Ben late and get Flacco or Kolb until he comes back. These guys might even be better. Palmer is another nice sleeper. I know it is hard to wait when everyone else is taking one, just remember that they are doing the wrong thing and you are not! Good luck
Hi Kevin, thanks for the reply – I altered my strat a bit.
You mentioned earlier if 6 points are for TDs (which I have for QBs in my league as well) and stated the draft order in your eyes is:
1. AP 2.CJ 3. MJD 4. Rice 5. Brees 6. Gore 7. Rodgers 8. Steven Jackson 9. Randy Moss or Andre Johnson 10. Mendenhall
I’m confused as to why you’d pick Brees over Gore. I can’t see that working well. Why? QBs scoring are much closer than running backs; especially with the RBBC setup that seems to be gaining legs the last few years.
I believe Gore is the better pick. I’m the #5 spot. Thoughts?
If you saw the earlier post, i actually left off turner also. I am coming around on gore and have jumped him ahead of Brees, but I have also seen what Turner looks like this year and feel he has jumped Brees also. I think if I were to do a top ten now it would look like this 1. Peterson 2. Johnson 3. MJD 4.Rice 5. Gore 6. Turner 7. Brees 8. Andre Johnson or Moss 9. Rodgers 10. Jackson
Kevin, thanks for the advice. I just finished my draft and I am VERY VERY happy. What was interesting about this draft is that the receivers went so fast; more aggressive than any mock draft I did so running backs were available that normally (I kid you not) get drafted in the 3rd.
First amazing move was the 3rd round pick was Manning.
I first then landed Ray Rice in the 5th spot!
Then receivers went very very fast. Coming back I still managed to get Reggie Wayne. Rest of 2nd and 3rd more receivers; so I ended up with no slump – Steve Smith from NY.
4th round (in my PPR) I ended up getting LeSean McCoy, another great grab.
Then BELIEVE IT OR NOT, SHONN GREENE WAS still available! Dallas Clark went 5th 2nd pick and I said screw it; I ain’t picking gates and got Shonn Greene. There were about 3 guys making lousy picks.
Then MORENO was still available in the 6th round. I got him, another sweet deal.
TEs were going fast so got Vernon Davis in the 6th.
Receiving core needs more help so I then went and got Malcom Floyd in the 8th – hardly no receivers left so he was aggressive but without Sjack it’s looking nice.
Still no QB and Flacco was still available; grabbed him (really suprised in the 9th round). Then I noticed guys having only 1 QB and people were looking – to avoid any mishaps I picked up Big Ben in the 10th.
The rest was gravy – Michael Bush, Santana Moss (both starters for their respective teams) and rounded off by picking up McGahee to back up Rice. Only regret is I missed LT by a hair because I know Greene won’t do all the carrying.
I got the chargers D – 2nd easiest schedule (2nd to the 49ers).
I ended up really liking this lineup.
PPR league with one flex spot.
Joe Flacco
Ray Rice
LeSean McCoy
Steve Smith
Reggie Wayne
Vernon Davis
Rob Bironas
Chargers
—-
Big Ben
Michael Bush
Willis McGahee
Knowshon Moreno
Malcom Floyd
Santana Moss
That, my friend, is why you do not need to get a QB early. Also, love the Michael Bush pickup (he is going to be fine for week 1). Aren’t you glad you didn’t take a TE early? Davis is a steal and you get to have Greene, Mccoy, Bush, Moreno, and Rice. Those guys will carry you or be great trade bait. If Mike Williams, rookie from Tampa, or Gaffney did not get drafted, they are worth keeping an eye on. Really, Really, excellent draft. No way does that team not compete this year and Flacco/Big Ben will put up the numbers with any QB in the league! Love the draft and good luck.
Keep in touch and tell me how it goes. I will be putting up waiver pickups soon and some other articles. Rice will be a top 3 back in that format. Someone really screwed that pick up. McCoy will be top 15 in PPR leagues, too! Wayne and Smith had a hundred catches each, should be close to that again this year, which will make them top 10 WR, too. Killer team, only bad luck in the playoffs will hurt you. I guarantee, barring injuries, this team is a top 3 scorer overall in that format. I just love the draft you had, looks like one of mine. I would die for that team! I feel like a proud father!
Thanks a lot Kevin. I agree man. Sound advice earlier. I really had a hard time believing in holding off even on a TE in the 5th but took it down its path. I saw about 5 out of the 10 pick QBs way too early. I saw people picking DEFENSES in the 10th ROUND! I saw one guy pick 3 QBs. I just don’t get it – but I did my HW this year.
Again the only two regrets I have is not snatching LT. Other than that my picks went very very well. And, I did not expect a land slide of receivers to go THAT fast. In all the mock drafts I had I always landed someone slightly better than Steve Smith (NYG) in the 4th but I can’t complain considering some people grabbed backup running backs in the freakin’ 4th round; like Reggie Bush; unbelievable.
However, the most odd pick of them all was manning in the 3rd. It opened it up for me. One bad move leads to a mountain of good ones.
I agree, you need one idiot to make the whole draft come around. Steve Smith is a much better option than a lot of guys in a PPR league. I would much rather have him than D Jackson or Jennings. His receptions will be at least 20 more than both of them and that equals three TD’s, but they are much more consistent than TD’s. It’s funny, I love Mike Wallace, but Hines Ward is much, much better in a PPR league, but goes 5 rounds later. People forget that the most important rule of any league is to check the scoring system!
Kevin, I’m worried (yes I like to worry!). LT is looking sharp man. Do I trade Moreno for LT as backup for Greene straight up or wait it out?
Also for week 1 – yes I’m already thinking of week 1 – if Moreno is healthy (and yes that’s a big if because hamstring injuries are tough) then who do I start? Moreno or Greene? Greene plays Baltimore. I think Greene will be fired up because he has to fight for # of carries against LT. However, it’s the damn Raven’s defense.
I would not trade Moreno, you would be giving up too much for LT, but if you could work a deal with Moreno and Santana Moss for LT and a receiver that is a little more consistent-Wes Welker would be perfect, you could do that. Don’t get caught up with preseason too much, these games don’t mean anything. You need to treat Moreno as a top 15 back-which he is-and LT as a backup on his own team-which he is. You need to be compensated for giving up the better player and that means getting a starter out of it. I wouldn’t sweat him too much, you have a lot of depth at RB. It is a little early to give lineups for week 1, I would wait until about a half-hour before the games start, but here is what I would be looking at.
Flacco
McCoy
Rice
Greene
S.Smith
Wayne
Bush may be out up to a month-no problem for you, he will be back for bye weeks. I would keep an eye on the waiver wire for Karim Huggins, TB and James Davis, Cle. Both probably undrafted, but have severely outpreformed the starters in front of them. Jerome Harrison has been downright awful and word out of camp is that Hardesty blew his ACL. Davis came in last night and had a great game. Huggins is younger and faster than Cadillac, who can’t stay healthy anyways. We can go back to this when we get closer
Fair enough – thanks for the feedback!
Rock on and good luck with your teams.
I’m in a bit of a pickle Kevin. Monday night football needs to be good to me tonight.
Steve Smith (NYG) didn’t perform. Nicks stole the show. Reggie Wayne did well, Davis didn’t get in the end zone (although respectable points), and McCoy did well against the packers D.
Tonight I have Ray Rice, Joe Flacco, and the Chargers D. And I have a flex option of Shonn Greene or Malcom Floyd. I have Floyd currently in but I’m worried that if the chargers start to blow it out they will just let Mathews run away severely limiting Floyd’s value.
Jets need to establish the run – rookie QB against a tough ravens D. Greene doesn’t catch balls though.
Who would you start in my PPR tonight in the flex?
Shonne Greene or Malcom Floyd?
I forgot to mention he is up 50 points and has Boldin to play too.
I keep telling myself I have to go for the points over consistency – and that means risk and Floyd.
I would start Floyd in this situation also. Greene will be a nice start later, but in a ppr league Floyd should score more. I don’t believe that Kansas City will get blown out, in fact, I believe that they win this game. SD has one of the worst D’s in the league. You should be ok. It should be a close game for you with Boldin against Reevis. Reevis has killed first receivers over the last few years and Boldin will struggle. Good luck
Hi Kevin, well I started Floyd and both did poor (Greene and Floyd). But I don’t regret my choice.
First loss of the season but I had really touch matchups.
This week looks promising. Because I did so poorly this week in points I ended up grabbing Brandon Jackson.
I’m definitely starting Flacco, Rice, McCoy, Wayne, Steve Smith from NYG, and V Davis. Dropped the chargers D and picked up the pats D (they’re playing the Jets).
Now the flex spot is always fun :
I have to pick1 in a PPR:
K Moreno
S Greene
B Jackson
S Moss
M Floyd
I’m leaning towards Moreno or Jackson and I think Jackson has more upside playing Buff on a high explosive offense. Plus the bills have a better secondary than a rush D – even with Rodgers at the helm they will hand off.
Moreno is playing SEA. He showed well last week but still not sure he has more upside than Jackson.
I’m loaded with backs – I should possibly look to trade for a tier 2/1 receiver now or hold off? I still have Moss and Floyd (both #1 receivers) so might want to hold? Greene needs to bounce back and if he does then it’s even more attractive to trade right?
Thoughts?
I would dangle Greene and Moreno, but you might wait until they had a better week. Don’t trade them if you are not getting fair value on their preseason worth, not a fluky first week. This team will be fine, I promise you and Jackson is the right play for the rest of the year. They love him catching passes and he will help a lot. Keep on eye on it though, because if he underpreforms, Green bay will look elsewhere.
Thanks Kev – hey I got an offer here I want you to evaluate.
I have an offer too and I need some feedback.
My team:
QBs – Joe Flacco, Big Ben
RBs – Ray Rice, LeSean McCoy, Brandon Jackson, Knowshon Moreno, Shonn Greene, Michael Bush
WRs – Reggie Wayne, Steve Smith (NYG), Malcom Floyd, Santana Moss
TEs – Vernon Davis
Kicker and Def – doesn’t matter.
As you can see I’m loaded up on running backs. However, Greene right now looks like a wasted pick. There’s another guy who had Ryan Grant and is hurting big time in running backs. He has:
QBs – Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan
RBs – Brandon Jacobs, LaDanian Tomlison, Laurence Maroney, Beanie Wells
WRs – Marques Colston, DeSean Jackson, Hines Ward, Vincent Jackson, Mike Williams (TB)
TEs – Jermaine Gresham, Owen Daniels
This is a PPR league with one flex option TE/WR/RB, 6 point TDs for QBs.
He is offering me DeSean Jackson or Hines Ward for LeSean McCoy.
What do you think? I might put myself in a jam though in the RB spot if I trade because of Greene’s value? I know it’s only 1 week so time will tell. McCoy is a definite starter and he wants one of those.
no way do i make that trade, but i would offer moreno or greene for ward. If he wants one, fine. If not, just don’t trade. Greene will be fine, it is just one week against balt. dont panic on him and stand your ground. dont give up mccoy for that little. vick will look to him a lot this week.
That’s what I did Kevin. I’m holding steady – I have depth for matchups then. I think having Floyd and Moss on bye weeks will be fine too.
Hello Kevin, at what point is it safe to drop CJ Spiller.. I have held onto him as long as I could.. I have 4 bench spots,. Not that the bye weeks are coming… I dont know if I could hold onto him any longer.. No one wants to trade for him, but maybe teams are waiting for me to drop him outright.. Definitely a playmaker but not sure when Gailey will unleash the beast. it is already week 4 I am 1-2 12 team league my backs are DeAngelo, Addai and Barber. We only get pts for Return TDs, and not Return yards… So at what point can u drop Spiller??
Lou,
Honestly I know you’re frustrated with Spiller, we all are…However, I wouldn’t drop him yet. I know its painful, but come November and December I see him being their best fantasy option. Lynch could be traded soon, too. Spiller has 10 times more talent than Fred Jackson. Sit tight with Spiller. If you truly want to dump him, wait until he has a decent game (which he will soon) and trade him for whatever you can get.
He has too much talent to not be used this season- Not even Buffalo is that stupid.
Kevin may tell you differently, but I’d hold onto him for at least three more weeks.
Really to answer the question I would need to know who you have on the waiver wire available. If Hillis is there I would drop him for him. Tolbert is going to get much less use as the season goes on, so I wouldn’t for him. If you want, tell me who is available and I can give you an honest opinion, but I agree with Johnny. At some point they will make CJ the starter, you may just have to wait.
If you want, give me your top five free agents and I can tell you what I would do. Also, give me your roster too!
Good answer guys… 12 Team league; have to play QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR.. TE, Flex (QB,WR,RB/TE), DEF and Kicker and 4 bench spots
I have Brady, Addai, Deangelo Will, Moss, Jennings, Dez Bryant, Tony Gonzo, Matt Cassel at the Flex, Cincy D, and Matt Bryant at Kicker..
Bench is currently M Wiliams of Tampa B (bye), M.Barber (bye), Chris Cooley who I some times used at the Flex, and CJ Spiller.
This week is tough. I have Dez, Marion, and Mike Will on Byes.. So my 3rd WR spot is currently empty. I might have to drop CJ or Barber. I can’t drop cooley cuz I am using him in The flex this week…
There isn;t anything good on Waiver Wire.. Crabtree, Lee Evans, Tony Moaeki, Nate wash, Visante Shiancoe, MccLuster, a whole bunch of below avg waiver wire fodder.!
No one wants to trade for CJ esp his value is so low right now… Thoughts?
Oh Currently sitting at 1-2 in the staninds as well… not desparate yet but close.
I think in this case you probably need to drop CJ and I would pick up Crabtree. His upside is as good as Spiller and with a new offensive coordinator, he may get better. I would have had Crabtree ranked in about the same spot as Spiller. I also would not have any problem getting rid of Dez Bryant. I think his value is never going to be much better than a third receiver, where as Crabtree is the number one on his team. I would have Crabtree ranked ahead of him right now. Spiller may be worth sitting on. RB’s are hard to come by. If it were me I would drop Dez, but do what you think is best. I just don’t think Dez has much value this year.
