Its host, Johnny Ballgame, was raised outside Seattle and grew up and spent most of his formative years in Bellevue, Washington. Like most young sports geeks do, Ballgame became a loyal fan of Seattle’s professional and collegiate teams. The Supersonics leaving, Ballgame will say, was a devastating blow that he will most likely never recover from. Johnny Ballgame graduated from La Grande High School in La Grande, Oregon.
Johnny Ballgame graduated with a degree in Radio/TV Digital Media Production from the University of Idaho. While at Idaho, he began hosting the Johnny Ballgame Show over a period of four years on KUOI, the school’s student station. During that time, he was also hired by the athletic department as a radio play by play broadcaster. He served as “the voice” of the women’s basketball program and also broadcasted a number of men’s basketball and football games during his three year tenure at the University of Idaho.
The Johnny Ballgame Show is a different form of sports talk radio that has developed into an award-winning program. The Idaho Press Club has recognized the Johnny Ballgame Show as the state of Idaho’s top Sports Talk Show for two consecutive years (2008, 2009). The show has been tremendously successful since debuting in the Eastern Oregon market in May 2010 on KLBM and KBKR in La Grande and Baker City, OR.
The Johnny Ballgame Show returned to Supertalk Radio in August of 2016. It airs live from 3PM to 6PM Monday through Friday, on KLBM 1450AM and KBKR 1490AM.
